The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland's most spectacular landmarks, and attracts tourists all year round. It’s had a long history linking it to the town that sprung up in its shadow – the Heritage Centre in Cashel explores the Rock’s story. But today, Cashel is much more than a footnote to the Rock. It’s an attractive, bustling place to visit or live.

Business and Shopping
Located just off the M8 motorway, with a population of about 3,000, Cashel is a pretty place to live. Thanks to a thriving tourist industry, the town’s retail centre has enjoyed a boom of independent shops and award-winning restaurants. There are many hotels in Cashel too, from listed homes to leisure complexes. Several chain stores have branches here, and a number of pharmaceutical companies, including Alza and Ranbaxy, are based here. If you’re looking for hotels in Cashel, use the web link on the right.

Arts and Culture
The Cashel Arts Festival (November) is a month-long community festival. The idea is to encourage everyone in the community to engage with new and traditional art disciplines in a meaningful and enjoyable way. The town’s Brú Ború Centre also maintains a programme of arts and theatre from its own folk theatre, genealogy centre and restaurant. The centre’s remit is the study and celebration of native Irish music, song, dance, theatre and Celtic studies. The Cashel Folk Village, depicting rural life from a bygone era, is another popular attraction and a great way to discover more about the town’s ancient roots.
