With a population of 22,000, Clonmel is the main town in South Tipperary. The next biggest are Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel, Tipperary Town, and Cahir – historic towns set amongst the lush, green pasture and mountains of South Tipp. Our lovely landscape means that residents in the larger towns enjoy easy access to outdoor pursuits and sporting facilities, from fishing to hiking. The retail mix comprises large chains, family-owned retailers and speciality shops; of course, you’ll also find theatres, cinema complexes and other leisure facilities within easy reach.

Cahir, Cashel and Tipperary have been designated as Heritage Towns because of their architectural, historic and cultural qualities. Towns such as Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir, Emly, Cahir, Cashel, Fethard and Tipperary date back to the middle ages, a period which influenced street names and town plans.
